1. Colossus of Rhodes – Greece

Imagine a giant bronze statue standing as tall as a 10-story building. That was the Colossus of Rhodes, built in 280 BC to honor Helios, the Sun God.

Destroyed: In 226 BC by a massive earthquake

Later, in 653 AD, invaders melted its remains for metal. It was never rebuilt.
