Karna is described as the ruler of Anga Desh, which many historians associate with parts of:

• Modern Bihar
• Eastern Uttar Pradesh

Interestingly, many place names and regional boundaries mentioned in the Mahabharata still exist today, which strengthens the argument that the epic was based on real geographical knowledge.
