Kurukshetra and the Red Soil Theory

According to the epic, the great war of the Mahabharata took place in Kurukshetra, located in present-day Haryana.

Local legends claim that the soil of Kurukshetra turned red due to the massive bloodshed during the war. Archaeologists have indeed found ancient human remains, weapons, and burial sites in nearby regions dating back to around 1500–2000 BCE.

While these discoveries do not directly prove the Mahabharata war, they confirm that large-scale conflicts occurred in this region during the suggested time period.
